Current Gallery: daibutsu ( piece)
Kamakura's Daibutsu (or Great Buddha) in Japan is one of the most beautiful statues of its size and kind in the world. For seven years, I had the great privilege to live within five minutes of the temple where he is housed, and so was able to take some magnificent rare photos of him: in snow, early in the morning, on special "light ups", and so on. He is a deep and mysterious presence, and each time you look up at him, you see something different in his face: Wisdom, Compassion, Intelligence, Modesty, Pride, Wonder. *President Obama visited Daibutsu as a young boy and loved it. He is hoping to get back for another visit. I am hoping that he will see and buy one of my photos! Ha!
